Introduction:
Piccadilly Point is a purpose built multi-storey building providing safe and secure student accommodation. The building consists of 533 individual bedrooms 55 studio type apartments and 100 communal kitchens/lounges all housed within this 17 storey construction. The ground and mezzanine floor is a combination of a management suite, Unite offices, Gym and retail space for future development.
Mechanical:
The mechanical services include domestic services, drainage, ventilation and two dry riser installations. The domestic cold water services consist of a ground floor tank with 30,000 liters of storage capacity, boosted to all the cold water outlets, including a cold feed to plant rooms on each level that house OSO hot water cylinders. Hot water is distributed to all outlets from the cylinder location. Supply and extract ventilation is achieved via communal systems located on the roof of each side of the building. Supply and extract ductwork is distributed through riser shafts and ceiling voids to supply and extract terminal in each bedroom and kitchen.
A dry riser has been installed on each block of the building with landing valves at each level.
Electrical:
The complete electrical installation was undertaken on this new build project. As an overview the electrical contract included for the following, lighting and power throughout including to external areas, internet broadband connection to each bedroom, TV System, On site and centrally monitored CCTV, Door Access system, Voice Intercom to each flat, New LV Switchpanel and Distribution, Standby generator for the supply of the fire fighting lifts and a Fire Alarm System with detection provided to each individual room and compartment formed within the structure.
